So It Goes

Anyone out there absolutely LOVE Vonnegut? And then simultaneously realize sometimes you just can’t handle him? Moi. Over here; right here. Ya. I think, was he for real? And then I remember how I felt the first time I read about Bokonists pressing one’s feet against another’s….

We will touch our feet, yes,
Yes, for all we’re worth,
And we will love each other, yes,
Yes, like we love our Mother Earth.
-Books of Bokonon

Whatever pilgrim! I didn’t come here to talk about the Kurt.
(I’ve been watching a lot of Family Guy. I’m seriously stuck on Peter’s John Wayne impersonations….Pilgrim.)

Remember this?

1.) Find running shoes: start couch to 5k.
2.) Decide on and put a payment on a wedding band from Tiffany’s.
3.) Hike to the West Coast, take pictures as proof. Start garden.
4.) Celebrate last birthday as a “single” lady. Go to SanFran with BFF.[Amended to “Seattle w TF”]
5.) Throw a kick ass, stress free party for all my friends so they can watch me get married. Live the moment; you only get married for the first time once.
6.) Paint a picture.  I chose to garden instead…also I still haven’t unpacked therefore can’t find my easel.
7.) Read a book I’ve put off from the NYR/2011.
8.) Make a sour dough starter. Keep it alive forever.
9.) Harvest. Cultivate. Enjoy.
10.) Make epic costume.
11.) Bake every weekend. Of just this month… maybe.
12.) Go to Sudbury for Christmas.

Me either, however things are shaping up pretty darn awesome. Well this little update was basically just for books! I count books on tape iPhone as a book read. I just do, so get over it.

This last two months I have devoured five books and I’m on my sixth. I love Miriam Toews, so I read two of hers. A Boy of Good Breeding, funny and entertaining. Irma Voth, tragic and beautiful. I still count The Flying Troutmans as my favorite of her books. I really read those ones, with pages and everything.

I’ve listened to Crime and Punishment, Paradise Lost, and now I’m on Middlemarch. Here’s something I had to pull over to write down it got me so good.

“We mortals, men and women, devour many a disappointment between breakfast and dinner-time; keep back the tears and look a little pale about the lips and in answer to inquiries say, “Oh, nothing!” Pride helps; and pride is not a bad thing when it only urges us to hide our hurts — not to hurt others.”

To do’s post I do’s

Well, it’s officially here – marriage.

Things that have immediately changed:
– Status from “Spinster” to “Married”. True story, look carefully while signing your marriage registrar. (AKA Ms. to Mrs.)
– Weird yet simultaniously awesome “Married” feeling.
– Place of residence.
– Gas bills ++$$. Drive to work from home is now 65 km instead of 6km.
– Number of rings now on ring finger, (2).
– Email address, and online username.
– Pictures of wedding up on FB.
– Dress size, +1. I’m sure it’s the bliss of married life, I need to get over it.

Things in the process of changing:
– actual and legal name changing; SIN card, Care card, VISA card, Drivers Licence, Passport, Library card.
– Garden. I have a house now, time to spruce it up.
– Professional photos being worked over.
– Many “Welcome to our happy home” dinners. 1 down, 99 to go.
– Dress size, -2. Time to get scared again.
– Signature; I’m working on it.

Now just because this is still a book blog… sort of;
– I have read 1-15 of The Walking Dead volumes – zomberific!

Kick up your heels

Best thing about choosing a short dress for my wedding besides the fact that short dresses rock? The Shoes.

Real leather and so comfortable and soft I could just die of happiness. So I never planned my wedding as a child, so what? I had no idea it was an amazing excuse to buy kick ass shoes! Things may have been different if I had known that.

Enjoy your week people!

The Tides of March… ha

I continue to rock on the New Year’s plan; I will however fail in April but I’ll get to that later.
I got to the West Coast of the Island of Vancouver. It was epic, it was salty, it was full of sunshine. As per the predetermined plan – I also took pictures.

April is supposed to be a kick ass road trip to San Fran with my bff but TF had some information that I had ‘forgotten’. Apparently the plan for my birthday celebration this year was to attend Super Cross in Seattle. I’m trading one motorcycled adventure as a single lady, for a fun-filled road trip to watch dirt bikes jump through fire hoops… or whatever they do. Also, we’ll be visiting the first Starbuck so I’m happy.

Cia and sorry I’ve been so absent, I’m busy not planning. Procrastination is so time consuming!

Things to do While Engaged Pt. 4

Buy yourself something sparkly!
And I don’t mean it has to have rocks – cause baby, as long as it says Tiffany’s I’m in heaven!

I waltzed my little, (ahem), behind into that posh joint with a tea in hand. I did not have over-sized sunglasses or a beehive hair do, but I still felt famous. The man to my left was looking at a ring for his incredibly young-looking girlfriend, the price tag was only $29k … then I felt justified to buy whatever I could possibly afford.
I can’t show you a picture of it as TF has confiscated it as it’s not ‘mine’ yet, but I crossed the second goal for 2012 off my list. I’ve found a pic online, and here’s one of me and my mom! It was instagrammed, (wow – it’s a verb and a great app now), so sorry for the stretchy quality.

I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and a Tiffany & Co. rose gold ring 🙂 … Yay

 Don’t you just love it?

Ciao lovers

t-t-t-Tuesday!

This morning was crazy! The animals at the farm were all white eyed and spazzy. Horses that are usually calm and loving trying to rear and buck and kill us all. Dogs going to a dark and angry place while trying to eat each other. A cat that just would not leave me alone, I felt violated, and I kept hearing Antonio Bandaras’ voice in my head… strange days.

An update on my Monthly Recipe for Intentionally Having a Great Year is in order, so here you go:
-I have both found my running shoes and started C25k. So far I’m loving it.
I guess that’s it, wow I’m liking this whole ‘monthly’ thing.

Ok so now here’s a picture of my current journal. I was trying to figure out what to do about 2012 documentation earlier and I decided on a change/compromise of sorts. Still Moleskine, (love them, can’t [won’t]change), but this one’s a cheap one and I can doodle all over the cover. Do you do doodle too?

A Spoonfull of Determination

Well, let’s not call them ‘resolutions’ lets call them “The monthly recipe to having an intentionally great year”. Ya, that looks great. Okay!

1.) Find running shoes: start couch to 5k.
2.) Decide on and put a payment on a wedding band from Tiffany’s.
3.) Hike to the West Coast, take pictures as proof. Start garden.
4.) Celebrate last birthday as a “single” lady. Go to SanFran with BFF.
5.) Throw a kick ass, stress free party for all my friends so they can watch me get married. Live the moment; you only get married for the first time once.
6.) Paint a picture.

Quick! Quick! Like a Bunny!

Another book finally made it’s way to me from the good ol’ library. Took six months to get here, (no exagerations necessary), and now they only let me keep it for 14 days! Don’t they know I’m in the middle of three books right now? Don’t they care? The nerve! Well, I’m off to read a thrilling journey of four children on a boat, beach, and battling amazons!
Have a fantastic Christmas week!

The (four) Musketeers

From the first I was shocked. You’ve heard me bitch about how movies are always ‘adapted’ beyond control and that the original plot was tampered with unnecessarily. Well, this may not always be the case… I may have been blown away by the simultaneously “true to the book” and “artistic licence and adaptations”.

Flying war ships? Okay! I don’t mind because they have a near chronological story line to the book, and some dialogue almost seems quoted from the original Dumas. Lady Dewinter is basically a version of Alice from Resident Evil only she wears a bigger dress with more lace; but hey she’s still totally evil and you can see why Athos loves her. The whole “you looked at me funny en guard!” thing is still intact. I LOVED IT.

TF didn’t, he said “At first I thought it was written for teenagers, and then I realized, it must have been written by teenagers.”  I don’t know if he is aware the books is basically the same thing. Written for teenaged boys about teenaged boys.

Highly entertaining. Lots of cool effects. Beautiful people. And finally, Orlando Bloom is a prissy evil character.

Go watch it.

Moi

PS Also, true to book, the Musketeers only said “All for one, one for all” once in the whole film… awesome.
